Birthday:    October 12, 1961

Comments:    Our family moved to Lincoln City after 10th grade and I graduated from Taft HS with 79 others. I moved 30 times the first 10 years out of high school. I got my B.S. in Forestry from OSU in 1985 and my M.S. in Special Ed. from PSU in 1992. I did lots of things: park ranger, bartender, garbage man, sold mutual funds, taught outdoor school, clothing store manager at Washington Square, prep cook Jakes Famous Crawfish (Portland), Autistic Childrens Activity Program teacher. I got my first full-time teaching job in Aberdeen, WA and I haven't moved since, 18 years. I taught Special Ed for 4 years and now teach science (Biology mostly) at Aberdeen HS (also coached HS tennis for 14 years). I am Aberdeen's Mr. Arnst.

School Story:    I remember watching the year change on "L" hill during P.E. I remember the axle breaking when we loaded the back of a truck too full for homecoming.
Trying to survive dodgeball against thr jr./sr. weightlifting class. Sock hops in PE. Chess club in the library. I remember catching my headgear on the sweater of a junior girl in the hall and having to go home with a minor neck injury.

Cut the beard way back for the first time in a lot of years. It is already a little longer so that double chin is hidden again. I raised $700 for Cancer Research by growing and then cutting that thing. My students thought I was a substitute so I wore a visitor badge as a joke that day.

I look the same as I did in 10th grade - right?
I am growing the beard out so I can cut it off and donate it to Beards of Love. But seriously folks, I am auctioning off the beard to raise $1000 for cancer research. High school kids will donate for all kinds of goofy things. (I am up to $300 so far.)

My OSU ID picture. Look at all that hair!

They had fun in Hawaii while I recovered from Gall Bladder surgery during spring break this year.

Grace and I at a basketball game a few years back.

Having fun in Biology class with the sophomores about 2000.
