La Grande High School
Class of 1979
ANNOUNCEMENTS

Well, it is officially summer, here’s some details about our upcoming reunion. The informal (but official) 45th reunion for the Class of ’79 is being planned at the little berg of New Bridge, just north of Richland, Oregon.

We are taking Don and Brenda Flowers up on their offer to hold the class reunion at their place August 23-24 (Friday evening and Saturday) and August 25 (Sunday morning) breakfast. Their place has beautiful grounds, lots of space and shade, and water flowing through it.  It’s a wonderful location to re-connect with our friends, classmates and teachers we haven’t seen in… as many as 45 years and have a relaxing weekend.

Meals:

Friday

Evening: A taco bar, and chicken for those that can’t eat spice.

Saturday

Morning: Breakfast will be served!

Evening: Seafood boil and beef Tri-Tip roast

Sunday

Morning: Breakfast

It will be free of charge to anyone, with donations accepted to cover the cost of purchasing the food, paper plates, etc. Everyone is asked to bring their own beverages, ice and cooler.

The groceries will be purchased ahead of time with donations covering the cost. We will be looking for help with preparation and clean up.

RSVP:

Wondering how to let us know we’ll be seeing you at the reunion? (And so, we can get enough groceries.)  Call or send an email to Don Flowers.  Don’s phone number is (541) 786-1436 and his email address is DonBFlowers@yahoo.com

Directions:

From La Grande, take I-84. Just as you’re nearing Baker, take Exit 302, and turn left at the stop sign onto Hwy 86 heading toward Richland.

Shortly after you reach mile marker 41, you'll see a sign reading “New Bridge / Sparta” on your left.  Take that left turn onto New Bridge Road and drive approximately 2½ miles where a sign welcomes you to New Bridge. Take a left on Second Street and drive straight down two blocks to the dead end. You have arrived— the physical address is 35808 Second Street, Richland, Oregon 97870

Message from Don:

We want everyone to be comfortable, have laughs with friends and leave with lots of good memories. Our place is a lived-in house… so if you spill a pop, water or beer, we’ll just have a laugh and get you another one. If anyone wants to come earlier, you’re also very welcome. Jon Hanley said he will be here early to paint rocks. If you have any questions or concerns, please just call me or send me an email.
